Persephone in the Underworld: what you can learn from a time of darkness

  • Mercy-by-the Sea 167 Neck Road Madison, CT, 06443 United States (map)

One Day Retreat led by Jan Blencowe

Novemeber 3, 2018, 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

What do you do when you find yourself in a place of darkness in your life? How do you learn, grow, even thrive when life's circumstances abduct you into the underworld, and the sweet fragrance and sunlight of a summer season is abruptly over. How can you make your descent into that dark time a conscious one and regain control of who you are and how your situation can be used in positive and empowering ways in your own life.

While exploring the myth of Persephone, and diving deep into its rich symbolism and themes you will discover how an underworld experience can be the catalyst for a heroine's journey. You'll find that this journey will teach you much more than just how to endure difficult times, it will lead you through a process of discovering who you are and what inner strengths have been hidden waiting for you to unearth them. When explored through the JourneyCircles™ process an underworld experience can be understood, held and worked with in transformative ways.

The JourneyCircles™ Process is a highly creative, yet very accessible, mixed media art form that guides you in creating personal, symbolic imagery, used for discovering and retelling the stories of your life. Using found images, and other media, you'll be cutting, tearing and gluing to create mixed media collages on beautiful JourneyCircles™ template cards.
